Easydry introduced the world’s first eco-friendly disposable towel almost 20 years ago when the company was founded. Easydry founder, Anne Butterly, placed sustainability at the heart of Easydry. She had a mission to introduce an easy to implement practice that would allow business across multiple industries become more sustainable.
Easydry’s commitment to sustainability throughout the past two decades has been recognised by achieving B Corp Certification. B Corps, are companies that have been verified as meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. In this day and age, consumers want to know that the companies they buy from are ethical and sustainable. As a result, we have seen the growth of B Corp as the official classification for companies that meet the required environmental and social standards. In order to achieve certification, a company must:
- Demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80.
- Make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
- Exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance be measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on the B Corp website.
Easydry achieved a score of 98.7 in their B Corp assessment, a massive jump from the median score of 50.9. This high score places Easydry as the 2nd highest scoring B Corporation in Ireland. To maintain B Corp certification, companies must pass an assessment and verify their updated score every three years.
Easydry is delighted to join the B Corp community of over 4,000 businesses around the world. These companies span over 150 industries and more than 70 countries. The B Corp community in the UK, consists of over 500 companies and in Ireland, less than 20. Thousands of companies around the world apply for B Corp certification each year, but only a select few make it through the vigorous assessment and verification process.
Anne Butterly, CEO and founder, had the following to say:
“Easydry has always had a commitment to being a business that puts purpose over profit. Rather than solely focusing on generating profit, we wanted to push industries in a more sustainable direction by providing them with eco-friendly products that would allow them to do so. Achieving B Corp Certification reflects our 20 year commitment to sustainability. It aligns perfectly with our mission.”
Easydry has established themselves as the pioneers of disposable towels and reference-point for sustainable products within the hairdressing, barber and beauty industry. As Easydry join the B Corp community made up of global brands such as Patagonia, The Body Shop and Ben & Jerry’s, they know that their mission is far from complete. Easydry will continue to push for greater social and environmental improvements within their own company and the industries that they serve.
